The KTA50 is the workhorse of large-scale standby and prime power across the Horn of Africa. A 50-litre V16, turbocharged and aftercooled, it sits under most of the 1000 kVA-and-above sets serving hospitals, telecoms towers, port equipment and the larger commercial buildings in Hargeisa and Berbera. Its size is also its supply problem: a KTA50 down for a liner kit is a very expensive week, and the parts are heavy enough that air freight hurts.

Numbers on this page cover the KTA50 as catalogued for genset and industrial duty. That distinction matters more on this family than most. The G-drive variants used in generator sets do not always take the same fuel system, cooling or aftercooler parts as the marine and industrial versions of the same displacement, and the DFLC and DFHA genset models each carry their own parts lists. Ordering from the engine model alone is how the wrong aftercooler core arrives.

Before you order, get the CPL number off the dataplate. On the KTA50 the CPL determines injector calibration, piston and ring pack, and in several cases the camshaft — parts that look interchangeable in a catalogue and are not interchangeable in the block. If the set has been overhauled before, ask whether the block was bored; oversize liners and standard liners share a family of numbers that differ by a single digit.

For a quotation we need the engine serial number, the CPL if the plate is still readable, and a photograph of the rating plate. Where the enquiry touches the control system, protection or the AVR, we also need the genset serial, because those numbers follow the set rather than the engine. Every line comes back with its tier stated in writing: Tier 1 genuine sourced through authorised distribution in the UAE, or Tier 2 reputable branded aftermarket where that brand actually manufactures the part.
